Türkiye’s strengthening connections with the Western alliance with the commencement of the Cold War created cooperation opportunities in intelligence field. The USSR’s atomic bomb tests in 1949 and hydrogen bomb tests in 1953 were serious threats for both Türkiye and the Western alliance. In this context, M.E.H/MAH conducted an extensive research in the Balkans and compiled detailed information through its operations regarding the uranium mines in the Eastern Block. This information had significant impact on both collective security and the convergence between Türkiye and Western alliance.
