What is the role of the MIT in prosecution and trial of espionage crimes?

MIT officials can personally make use of all the rights and powers granted to the law enforcement units in accordance with the Law 2937 and our related regulations in regard with the surveillance of individuals suspected to be committing espionage in our country, their capture in flagrante delicto and their submittal to the judicial organs. However, when need be, cooperation with law enforcement authorities or the Public Prosecutor is also possible.

Following their capture in flagrante delicto, the suspects are sent to a court competent and authorized to deal with espionage crimes with a statement drafted along with the testimonies and other available evidence.

Utilizing the Organizational Emblem and the photographs for other than its intended purposes is prohibited and may result in criminal prosecution.
