ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE ORGANIZATION
STRATEGIC ANALYSIS DIRECTORATE
The Strategic Analysis Directorate is assigned with the duty to produce short-mid-long term strategic analysis so as to meet the strategic intelligence requirements of Turkey. To this end, the Directorate closely follows the regional and global developments, analyzes the social dynamics, and provides foresight by identifying the causality between the apparently independent cases.
The Counter-Intelligence Directorate is assigned with the duty to identify and thwart the espionage activities of foreign countries, intelligence services, institutions/agencies and individuals against Turkey. To this end, the Directorate conducts counter-espionage activities and sustains cooperation and coordination with public and private sector institutions/agencies which are targeted by espionage activities.
EXTERNAL OPERATIONS DIRECTORATE
The External Operations Directorate is assigned with the duty to protect and develop the strategic interests of Turkey. The Directorate carries out activities together with internal and external units. It sustains its activities in support of the National Security Strategy of Turkey and in parallel with the political conjuncture.
SECURITY INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE
The Security Intelligence Directorate is assigned with the duty to collect security intelligence against threats targeting the national power of Turkey, mainly posed by terrorist organizations and terrorist activities. The intelligence gathered by the Directorate inside the country and abroad is used to take security measures and eliminate the threat.
ELECTRONIC AND TECHNICAL INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE
The Electronic and Technical Intelligence Directorate is assigned with the duty to identify and intercept the telecommunications with a view to determining any disclosure of state secrets and preventing terrorist activities, and to evaluate and record the signal information. The Directorate conducts voice and image analyses, produces imagery intelligence (IMINT), decodes encrypted data, and carries out activities against cyber threat elements.
SIGNAL INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE
The Signal Intelligence Directorate is assigned with the duty to produce signal intelligence, including early warning and notification, by using communications and non-communications signals. To this end, the Directorate captures and analyzes communication and radar signals and then translates them into intelligence.
