ORGANIZATIONAL CHART OF THE NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE ORGANIZATION

STRATEGIC ANALYSIS DIRECTORATE

The Department of Strategic Analysis is responsible for the production of short- and long-term analyses to address Turkey’s need for strategic intelligence. For this purpose, the Department closely monitors regional and global developments, analyzes social dynamics and identifies causal links between seemingly unrelated events in order to make predictions.


COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE

The Department of Counterintelligence is responsible for the detection and prevention of espionage activities by foreign governments, intelligence services, institutions and persons against Turkey. For this purpose, the Department engages in counter-intelligence activities and cooperates and works in coordination with public- and private institutions targeted by espionage activities.


EXTERNAL OPERATIONS DIRECTORATE

The Department of External Operations is responsible for safeguarding and furthering Turkey’s strategic interests. It works closely with relevant departments at home and abroad and aligns its activities with Turkey’s National Security Strategy along with political developments and circumstances.


SECURITY INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE

The Department of Security Intelligence is responsible for the collection of security intelligence regarding threats against Turkey’s national might, including terrorist organizations and acts of terrorism. The Department uses intelligence gathered at home and abrod to ensure that necessary precautions are taken and threats are neutralized in due time.


ELECTRONIC AND TECHNICAL INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE

The Department of Electronic and Technical Intelligence is responsible for the detection and surveillance of telecommunications and to analyze and store signals information for the purpose of stopping leaks of state secrets and the prevention of terrorist activities. It engages in image- and sound analysis, produced image intelligence (IMINT), decyphers encrypted data and conducts activities against cyber threats.


SIGNAL INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE

The Department of Signals Intelligence is responsible for producing signals intelligence, including early reports and warnings, by using communication and non-communication signals. For this purpose, it intercepts communications and radar signals to analyze them and convert them into intelligence.
